An interlock driveway carries cars every day, so it has to be built like a driveway, not like a patio. The stone is what you see; the excavation and base underneath are what keep it flat, tight and draining for years.
Built from the ground up
The old surface is removed and the area is excavated to driveway depth. A granular base is laid and compacted in lifts, then a level bedding layer goes down. Pavers are laid to the chosen pattern, cut clean at the edges, and locked in with edge restraints and joint sand before the whole surface is compacted.
Grading, borders and repairs
The driveway is pitched so water runs away from the garage and foundation. Soldier-course borders frame the pattern and help hold it. If a section ever settles or a utility has to dig, the stones can be lifted and reset instead of patched.
