Good concrete is decided before the truck arrives. The base, the forms and the reinforcement set the shape, the strength and how well the slab holds up to frost, traffic and water.
Base and forms
The area is excavated and a granular base is laid and compacted so the slab has even support. Forms are set to the exact line, height and slope, braced so they do not move under the weight of the pour.
Reinforcement and the pour
Reinforcement is placed where the slab needs it, then the concrete is poured, consolidated and finished. Joints are cut to control cracking, and the surface is left to cure properly before it takes load.
